The pillars for a balanced diet to maintain a healthy weight

A balanced and healthy diet is the key to shielding our body from being overweight or obese , as well as many other pathologies such as diabetes, heart disease, strokes and cancer, among others.

Good eating habits will help the mind and body function as it should. On the other hand, a poor diet, added to the lack of physical activity, are the main factors that put our health at risk.

Taking into account that a balanced diet is important for the well-being and quality of life of all people, we want to share the pillars that a good diet should have.

These are the pillars of a balanced diet

  1. A balanced and healthy diet should include, in most meals, foods from all groups. That is, you cannot miss cereals, meats, dairy products, healthy fats, legumes, nuts, and fruits and vegetables.
  2. Avoid eating red meat and sausages, which can be toxic to the body. Choose, better, to eat more white meats such as fish, chicken, turkey and pork.
  3. Try to eat and incorporate whole grains into your diet such as rice, bread or pasta. The fiber contribution of these is greater.
  4. Drink lots of water and always make it your first choice. Avoid drinking soda or sugary drinks and natural juices; these are not as healthy as you might think. Not to mention the soft drinks.
  5. Avoid frying all foods. Try to make your dishes with other cooking techniques such as using the oven, microwave, steamed or in stews.

A balanced diet has many benefits for health and the body, however, it must be complemented with other healthy lifestyle habits such as physical activity and good sleep to achieve a healthy weight and a good quality of life.
